Brian Froese
"Though We Are a Thousand Miles Apart":
Early Mennonite Writing from California, 1895-1935


Brian Froese is a doctoral student at the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley, California. He is writing a dissertation there entitled "Faith in the Sun: a History of Migration, Urbanization, Pacifism and Education in the California Mennonite Experience, 1905-1965." A native of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Brian received his B.A. degree at the University of Winnipeg in 1994. After attending the Mennonite Brethren Biblical Seminary in Fresno, Brian completed his master's degree in history at Regent College in Vancouver, B.C., in 1997.

3:30 Genealogical workshop led by Alan Peters

6:00 Dinner, followed by a brief business meeting

7:30 Program, featuring presentation by Brian Froese

Tickets for the dinner and evening program are $10.00 for Historical Society members; $15.00 for non-members. New memberships ($25) paid at the door will qualify for the member ticket price. There is no charge for the afternoon genealogical workshop. Reservations for the dinner must be made by May 12. Call 559-453-2225 for reservations.
